This artbook for Mamoru Oshii’s 2008 animated war film『The Sky Crawlers』is divided into mechanical design, character design, and background design. It devotes some 50 pages to the design of aircrafts including line arts and pencil sketches, then design of other motor vehicles complement the first section.

In the second section readers will find design of characters in both line art and colour scheme. The design of characters’ associated props such as pilot suit are included. The last section on background design showcases mostly environment line arts; only 9 pages show finished background arts printed in colour.
